The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Committee on Wednesday demanded that 10 decimals of land be provided to landless poor of the State in a priority basis. Newly-elected party State secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik, addressing his maiden conference at the party office here, said the party would raise important issues of poor farmers, labourers, tribals and dalits at the State level. It would fight against anti-people activities of both Central and State Governments.
Patnaik said the party would strongly protest the Central Government’s amendments to the land Acquisition Act which help the rich company owners and industrialists. “The Government doesn’t hesitate to provide hundreds of acres of land to industrialists, but the Government keep mouth shut when we demand for only 10 decimal of land to landless poor,” he said.
He lashed out at the Modi Government for spreading communal hatred in the country and helping the industrialists like Adani Group. He even criticised the BJD Government for looting the State’s natural resources through corporate houses and mining mafias.
Patnaik demanded a hike in pension for senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities and minimum daily wage Rs500 for labouers in the State. Among others, ten secretariat members of the State Committee Janardan Pati, Jagannath Mishra, Santosh Das, Dushmant Das, Bishnu Mohanty, Suresh Panigrahy, Sisir Hui, Nirmal Nayak, Pushpa Das and 31 member State committee members were present.
