The Communist Party of India (CPI) will continue its fight against both State and Central Governments for the sake of farmers and the poor, said party national secretary K Narayanan while addressing a Press conference on the completion of a three-day State council workshop at Jeypore.
Narayanan condemned the FDI policy of the Centre and said a strong protest will be lodged against this with the help of other left wing parties.
Narayanan also criticized the Naveen Patnaik Government in Odisha for growing farmer suicides and demanded compensation for crop loss and death of farmers. He demanded Rs 10 lakh for each deceased farmer’s family, free from all agriculture loans and Rs 25,000 per hectare of crop damage.
If the demands will not be fulfilled, the CPI will hold a block gherao and bandh in front of all block headquarters of the State from January 3 to 9, said State CPI secretary Dibakar Nayak. Among others, State assistant secretary Ashish Kanungo, Narayan Reddy, Abhay Sahu, Khirod Singdeo, Judhistir Raul and Sushant Adhikari were present.
