Supporters and workers of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday staged a demonstration here protesting unscheduled power cuts in the State.

The workers came in a rally from the party office at the Ashok Nagar to the Rajmahal Square before staging the demonstration. Party’s Bhubaneswar zone secretary Sura Jena said the Chief Minister has failed to keep his promise to check power cut problem in the State.

“Power cut problem has added salts to the wounds of consumers who are already bearing the brunt of high humidity and heat wave conditions continuing in the State,” Jena said, adding, “If the State does not take immediate steps to solve the problem, our party will hit the street.”
