The CPI unit of Kujanga- Paradip area expressed strong displeasure over the post Phailin relief and restoration works beingundertaken by the civil administration in Paradip and adjacent areas and filed a memorandum before the District Collector on Friday.
Baburam Chudhury , who handed over the memorandum, informed that the Phailin fury had severely devastated Sandhakuda, Noliasahi, Atharabanki, lockpada, Bhitarapada, Bijaychandpur, Balijhari, Bauriapalanda and lokanath colony on the outskirts of Paradip port town. Thousands of people including slum dwellers living in the areas had been rendered homeless, but due to faulty enquiry by the Revenue officials, many victims have been deprived of relief and other benefits.
The CPI said that relief is distributed on political consideration and thereby denying many genuine beneficiaries their dues. The party also alleged that despite numerous complaints in this regard, the district administration has been doing nothing to plug the loophole.
