The Communist Party of India (CPI) held a rally here on Saturday in protest against the hike in the price of cooking gas (lPG) by the Union Government.
Hundreds of activists holding party flags and placards moved in a rally from the party’s State office Bhagabati Bhaban to the Rajmahal Square and held a protest meeting there. Some women activists were seen putting lPG cylinders on their hands.
“The BJP-led Union Government has increased price of cooking gas many times. By implementing the Goods and Services Tax recently, it has increased the price by Rs 32 per cylinder,” alleged CPI zone secretary Sura Jena.
Assistant secretary Kailash Puhan, Chhtambar Bhoi, Basanti Pradhan, Mamata Baral, Reeta Sethi, Pranita Mohanty, Sugun Oram, Raima Bibi, Pradeep Das and Ahalya Sahoo led the rally.
