The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned the police attack on lawyers, especially women lawyers, while they were protesting the Government’s decision for abolition of the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) under the banner of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association here on Monday.
In a Press statement, CPI State secretary Dibakar Nayak said, “Acting on the recommendations of some IAS officers, the Government has decided to abloish the SAT which is against the interest of lakhs of employees”.
The protest staged by the lawyers in demand of continuance of the SAT is significant and justifiable and the CPI completely supports the protest, said Nayak. Instead of attacking the lawyers for their protest, the Government should concede to their demand, he added.
