On the eve of Holi festival, the Commissionerate police (CP) have geared up to curb sale of harmful chemical colours and prevent antisocial activities in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Police Commissioner YB Khurania on Wednesday said two special teams have been formed to conduct surprise raids on various shops to ensure that no hazardous or chemical colours are sold.
The raids are expected to continue till Thursday while stringent action would be taken against the violators, he said.
Similarly, adequate security measures have also been undertaken by the Commissionerate police to maintain law and order during the festivity.
“Apart from static deployment, mobile patrolling teams have also been formed along with quick action teams (QATS) to take timely measures against any eventuality,” said Khurania.
Police said special drives would also be launched against mischief mongers and efforts made to put a check on incidents of eve-teasing and drunken driving during Holi.
