Of late, cattle transportation-related cases in Bhadrak district have posed a serious law and order problem in the district. This was observed by Bhadrak SP Charan Sing Meena during a review focusing on cattle transportation.
He asked the police officers not to spare the law violators. Neither the illegal transporters nor the hooligans who create chaos in the name of cow protections should be spared, he stressed. Meena said the State Government had not banned cattle transportation. But the persons committing cruelty to animal won’t be spared under the protection Act. The transporters had to follow a set of guidelines, he said. Similarly, those who create hooliganism and mischief on the pretext of preventing cattle trafficking won’t be tolerated, he told.
He said that in last 6 months, 19 cases were registered and 20 lorries were seized. 23 cattle traders while were arrested, 366 cattle were rescued and lodged in different safer places. He further informed that 20 miscreants who are involved in crimes related to cattle trading and vigilantism have been identified and issued with notices. Meena asked the police officers to remain vigilant and follow the prevailing laws and rules.
