After a short gap, there is an upswing in Corona cases in Sambalpur now. Irresponsible behaviour, lack of fear and administrative negligence to implement guidelines are said to be the reasons behind the increasing number of patients.
Most importantly, the number of patients is more in the municipal corporation area than the rural areas. With continuous rise, the number of Covid patients has reached 20 by Thursday. It was 18 on Wednesday.
With little respite from the dreaded disease, the common people are becoming more careless. There is absolutely not any restriction particularly in the market. Social distance is a thing of the past now. The only guideline the people are following is putting a mask, and that too, in a wrong way.
Just before Dewali, the rush in the market and violation of Covid guidelines were worth seeing.
Further, the rush due to Chhat Puja by people of Bihar and UP is sure to add to the grave situation as none is ready to abide by the norms.
The situation has reached to such an alarming extent that Sambalpur is at times placed in third position all over the State as far as infection rate is concerned.
While the number of positive case was 20 in Sambalpur on Thursday, the case remained in single digit in rest of the districts of western Odisha. But common people and the medical practitioners including officials of the Health Department are panicked now as the growing number may invite a third wave if people don’t change in their behaviour.
