To create awareness among the people living in the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and its adjoining areas on Covid-19, a Sachetana Rath was inaugurated here on Tuesday jointly by the Department of Culture and Department of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with the Unicef. The Rath was flagged off from the BeMC Office after performing traditional “Jodi Sankha Badya” by BeMC Commissioner Sidheswar Baliram Bonder.
The chariot will visit each and every ward of the BeMC area with the core objective to sensitise the local public creating awareness about the deadly Coronavirus to effectively contain the pandemic, Bonder said. Local artists also participated in the awareness programme and tried to convey the message through their performance. The Covid chariot visited some of the most strategic and crowded places of the city like, Old Bus Stand Square, Girija Square, Giri Road and Kamapalli Square.
