In view of the decline in Covid-19 cases, the district administration on Monday shut the Covid Hospital in Sambalpur town.
After the two remaining patients admitted to the Covid Hospital recovered and were discharged, the administration ordered closure of the hospital except the 20-bedded ICU with immediate effect.
The Sambalpur Sadar Hospital would be operational from the premises of the Covid Hospital from November 20, sources said, adding that the staffs engaged at the Covid Hospital would no longer be employed at the Sadar Hospital.
Notably, the Sambalpur Sadar Hospital had been shut on April 22 to make way for the special Covid Hospital. Following this, arrangements were made for treatment of non-Covid patients at the Janardana Pujari Matrumangala Kendra and a health centre located at Ainthapali.
