The jailed US national William Michel, who was arrested on September 18 by the Commissionerate police for illegal possession of eight 0.22mm live bullets in his luggage here at the Biju Patnaik Airport, on Monday filed a bail petition at the Bhubaneswar District and Sessions Court seeking release from jail.
However, the court will hear his bail plea on Tuesday (September 24). A case under the Arms Act, 1959 has been registered against him.
Earlier on Friday, a two-member team of the American Citizen Services Unit at the US Consulate General in Hyderabad had visited the Jharpada Special Jail to meet the US national.He was sent to jail on September 18, the day he was arrested after a local court rejected his bail petition.
