The District and Sessions Judge Court of Kendrapada on Friday rejected the bail petition of self proclaimed godman Sarathi alias Santosh Raul for his involvement in a sexual assault case.
Additional public prosecutor Sanjay Jena said an unmarried girl of Haladidiha on August 21 last had registered a case with the Crime Branch alleging that Sarathi sexually abused her during her stay at the latter’s ashram years back. She had also got her statement recorded in the court.
On Friday, the victim girl submitted an affidavit before the court alleging that some persons have been threatening her over telephone to face dire consequences if she did not withdraw case against Sarathi.
Notably, the Crime Branch earlier on December 14 had submitted the final chargesheet before the SDJM Court against Sarathi. later Sarathi’s lawyer had submitted a bail petition before the court which too had been rejected.
