The bail petition of Raja Shree Mohanty, husband of dowry torture victim Barsa Swony Choudhury and son of former law Minister Raghunath Mohanty, couldn't be heard in the Sessions Court on Thursday as his counsels sought time for a day again.
Earlier on Wednesday, the counsels had prayed for time for a day when the court wanted to know from them the exact status of their bail petition moved in the High Court and proof of their claim.
While the counsels were to produce the proof that they had already applied for not pressing the petition in the High Court, they yet again applied for time on Thursday, which the Sessions Court allowed.
The hearing on the bail application will now be held on Friday and the court's order on the petition is expected on the day.
"We sought time for a day (again) as we are preparing to produce some documents tomorrow," informed defence advocate Gour Chandra Barik.
In the meantime, the team of the Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) of the police, which had seized some of the dowry articles from the house of Raghunath Mohanty on Wednesday, handed them over to Barsa's father
KK Choudhury on Thursday.
Besides, Sub-Collector Paresh Marandi informed that Raghunath Mohanty's wife Pritilata, has been suspended from the post of secretary of the local Regulated Marketing Committee due to her absence for more than 48 hours from duty on account of her stay
in jail.
