The Puri police on Friday formally moved the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here requesting for confiscation of properties of the five wanted servitors of the Shree Jagannath Temple here who allegedly misbehaved with district Collector Aravind Agrawal during the Niladri Bije festival in July.
Earlier this week, the police had begun the process to confiscate the servitors' properties as they failed to surrender before the court on or before September 12.
Puri Superintendent of Police Sarthak Sarangi submitted the details regarding their properties at the SDJM Court.
Earlier, the district police administration had written to as many as 30 banks as well as Puri Municipality, Puri-Konark Development Authority, Puri Sub-Collector and Tehsildar to get details of the moveable and immoveable properties in the name of the five servitors, Bhimsen Palankadhari, Damodar Mahasuara, Jayakrushna Mahasuara, Ipsit Pratijhari and Saina Khuntia.
On August 13, the police had put up posters with photographs of the servitors after failing to get details of their whereabouts. On July 27, the police had declared the servitors as absconders.
After the court granted the police non-bailable warrant against the servitors, the police launched a manhunt to nab them. But they have managed to evade arrest so far.
On July 18, the Collector had sent two complaints to the Puri SP mentioning names of six servitors for their alleged role in creating disturbance during the Niladri Bije festival.
