While constructing the four laning of NH (5) between Baleswar and Bhadrak, the authorities have left incomplete the road across a railway crossing at Bampada causing great inconvenience to the passing vehicles and commuters.

The condition of the portion of the road across the railway line is precarious. long queue of vehicles jam both sides of the railway crossing. Many a time, accidents take place due to traffic snarl. Frustrated by the attitude of the NH authorities in spite of repeated pleas and reminders, the North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCi) filed a criminal case in the court of sub divisional magistrate here against the NHAI and the DRM, SE Railway, Kharagpur for their negligence. However, within no time after the case was filed, some patch works were undertaken on the road to make it motorable.

During the court proceedings, the NHAI authorities and the SE Railway DRM accused each other and tried to pass buck. It was a matter of relief that after prolonged legal proceedings, the court asked the SE Railway DRM to complete the remaining patch within three months.

Earlier during 2009, the NOCCi had filed a similar case against the NHAI for non -maintenance of NH (5). After the court initiated a criminal proceeding against the NHAI authorities, the road was repaired quickly to the relief of public, said sources.
