Hearing in the criminal defamation suit filed by former DGP Sanjeev Marik against former MP and former IGP Anadi Sahu will begin at the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here from March 11.
The court has summoned Marik to record his statement in the case on March 11.
Marik has filed the suit against Sahu claiming damages of `50 lakh for making offensive remarks against him.
Sources said that Marik apart from him has named five others in the case as witnesses. After recording of Marik’s statement, deposition of other witnesses would be recorded by the court on dates to be announced later by it, after which Sahu would be summoned to appear before it.
Marik has filed the case under IPC Sections 500, 501 and 502 on grounds that Sahu’s allegations linking him to the gangster Dhalsamant brothers have damaged his reputation.
Marik has also filed a civil defamation suit for `50 lakh against Sahu in the Civil Court (Senior Division), Bhubaneswar on March 4.
The court on Monday served summons to Sahu to appear before it in person or through his attorney on April 5.
