The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court here has acquitted five members of the family of Netrananda Dandasena, former School Sub-Inspector (SI), of charges of manhandling and murder threat to Itishree Pradhan, a teacher of the Tikiri Upper Primary School who died on November 1, 2013 four days after being set on fire by an unknown person in the school hostel room on October 27, for lack of evidence.
JMFC Nihar Ranjan Sahu acquitted Netrananda’s two wives Abha Dandasena and Manorama Dei, two nephews Narendra Dandasena and Brundaban Dandasena and kin Saraswati Mohanty.
As per the complaint lodged by Itishree at the Tikiri police station, the five family members of Netrananda had intercepted her on June 16, 2013 while she was on the way to a shop to buy medicines for fever and asked her to withdraw the cases against Netrananda. When she refused, they manhandled her and threatened her with life, Itishree had alleged.
The JMFC Court, during the trial of the case since October 31, 2013, had recorded the statements of seven witnesses including Judhistir Majhi, Dambaru Majhi, Giridhar Majhi and Debendra Nayak, students of the Tikiri Upper Primary School, hostel superintendent Jogeswar Benia, school peon Sashibhusan Nayak and Investigating Officer Durgeswari Pradhan.
Meanwhile, the JMFC Court is scheduled to deliver its judgement on a case on June 22 on the alleged misbehaviour and mental torture to Itishree by Netrananda registered by the Tikiri police on June 18, 2013.
The charge-sheet framed by the police against Netrananda was submitted to the court.
