A married couple was found dead in their house at Kankadapal village under the Sadar police station of Dhenkanal district on Friday.
It was suspected to be a case of a suicide pact.
The deceased were identified as Bisikesan Sahu and his wife Mama. The couple had been married for 15 years. They are survived by a 14-year-old son.
The bodies of the couple were found in an abandoned room on the roof of their house. Circumstantial evidence suggested that the pair consumed poison before hanging themselves from the ceiling of the house.
It was suspected that the couple took the extreme step after failing to repay the loan they had availed.
Getting information, the Sadar police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the case.
