Staffs of the Khariar NAC staged a demonstration in front of their office on Tuesday protesting against the alleged bad behaviour of husbands of women Councillors of the NAC.
"We are forced to take this step as interference of the husbands of lady Councillors in our day-to-day activities is growing," said the agitating staffs.
In a complaint letter submitted to the NAC Chairman with a copy to the Executive Officer, the staffs have mentioned that they are misbehaved and harassed by husbands of the women Councillors repeatedly. "They are outsiders and have no right to instruct us to do illegal works or ask us to hand over official files to them. We have drawn attention of the higher authorities to give us protection and restrict interference by male relatives of lady Councillors" said the staffs.
They have alleged that one of the Councillor's husbands has threatened a staff with unpalatable consequences for not handing over a file to him which Councillor's husband had wanted to take to get it signed by the Municipal Engineer.
