District Judge Hiranmaya Bisoi on Saturday invalidated the win of Ranjita Kanhar as Ward-10 Councillor in the Phulbani Municipality polls held on December 2, 2013 on the ground that she was mother of four children before the cutoff date set for the polls against the norm of two.
The judge made this judgment while hearing a petition of Ranjita’s contestant Binati Kanhar in this regard. It was found that Ranjita also mothered two more children after the cutoff date.
The Judge also directed that a re-election to the Ward-10 be conducted as per law. Advocate Ranjit Patnaik and Biswajit Patnaik conducted the case on behalf of Binati.
