A councillor of the Jeypore municipality in Koraput district and 24 others were arrested on Wednesday night during raids on two gambling dens in the town.
The arrested councillor was identified as Asutosh Santrapatra, who represents Ward Number 21 in the Jeypore Municipality.
According to reports, simultaneous raids were conducted at the two places, Surya Mahal and Gadia Dhoba Sahi. While 18 persons were arrested from Surya Mahal, seven were nabbed from Gadia Dhoba Sahi.
Police seized around cash of Rs 1.92 lakh, eight vehicles and 18 mobile phones from the arrested persons’ possession. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.
