A woman Sarpanch was suspended on Friday and her Panchayat Executive Officer would be sued owing to misappropriation of funds. The axed Sarpanch was identified as Puspalata Sethy from Mudupuru Gram Panchayat under Jagatsinghpur block. There were allegations that she along with Panchayat executive officer Kesab Swain had embezzled Rs 10 lakh.
The District Panchayat Officer had conducted a probe and furnished his reports to the State Panchayati Raj Department confirming the veracity of the plaint against the duo. On the basis of the report, district Collector Yamini Sarangi took the action against the accused.
