Corruption against D'nal pvt college alleged

Many BJP workers led by Er Debashisha Hota on Tuesday organised a rally and a protest meeting against alleged corruption in the E-Tech College that affected many villagers.

The college is owned by relatives of a BJD leader, who is a former Minister, said Hota.

People withdrew the agitation after Additional District Magistrate Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan assured them of strong actions. In absence of the Collector, Pradhan received the memorandum.

While the E-Tech Residential College was constructed in the college campus building, its owners allegedly told poor villagers of Mangalpur that the building was meant for a medical college for free treatment, and some of the villagers would be employed there, Hota said.

He said the college also dug many deep bore-wells to supply water to its students, staffs and their family members due to which water-level of the village has gone down. Hence, poor villagers are facing lots of problems to get drinking water, he pointed out.

Hota said when villagers approached college management, they were threatened that they’re the relatives of the concerned BJD leader and, hence, nobody could do anything against them.

The administration is well aware regarding the broad daylight corruption of E-TECH owners. They have been admitting students in a different college of Bhubaneswar and cheating the students, alleged Hota.

The villagers demanded that the college give employment to educated youths, construct an overhead tank for them and provide electricity to all Sahis of the village. If demands are not met soon, villagers would start sitting on a dharna in front of the college from February 22.
