Corona has rendered two siblings of a family in Nimatpur village under Bhograi block orphan as they lost their parents due to the disease recently.
The deceased are Kamlesh Panda (36) who was serving in the East Coast Railway and his wife Smita Panda (28) who was employed in the Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital, Cuttack, as a nurse. They had two children, one daughter (7) and an infant son of one and a half months. Smita was under treatment for Corona before her delivery. And, after delivering a girl child, she died. After about two weeks of her death, her husband Kamlesh too died of Covid during treatment.
Reports said after receiving information, District Child Protection Officer Jubak Majhi visiting the victim’s house and informed them of various Government welfare schemes for the children.
However, their uncles and other family members while didn’t allow him to take the children to the rehabilitation centre. They reportedly demanded compensation for the kin as the deceased were Corona warriors. They further demanded free education for the kids, as declared by the Government, reports added.
