The core banking system at the Khariar Post Office is not working for last eight days due to failure of internet link. People, who are interested to open accounts and passbooks or want to buy NSCs, are not able to get any such services.
On inquiry, the postmaster said that they have reported about this to the higher authorities, but the situation has not changed.
Another problem is that one of the two computers in the post office is defunct since last eight days and it has not been repaired although reported to the office of the Superintendent of Post Offices at Bhawanipatna.
“With one computer we are doing the regular postal works. The other with the postmaster is defunct hampering the works of issuing National Savings Certificates, opening of accounts and collecting deposits, “ said the postmaster.
This correspondent tried to contact the Superintendent of Post Offices at Bhawanipatna, but no one picked up the phone.
