The Sadar police on Thursday took former Sanakhemundi Congress MlA Ramesh Jena and two others on a two-day remand for interrogation in a land grabbing case.

Police took Jena and his two associates Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Corporator R Murali Mohan and Buna Sahu from the Brahmapur Circle Jail for interrogation in connection with land grabbing of four acres of land of a person in Nimakhandi and Borigan areas.

Notably on April 13, the Brahmapur police had registered a case at the Sadar Police Station against Jena, his father Arakhita Jena, Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Corporator R Murali Mohan, a builder Buna Sahu and Kiran Panda on charges of forcibly grabbing four acres of Debottar land in Nimakhandi and Borigaon and undertaking construction on the same.

While Kiran Panda Panda is under police custody, police has taken Jena and his two associates for interrogation to know about their link with him in the land grab case.

Earlier, the Brahmapur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) had allowed the cops to take Jena and two of his associates on remand.
