The visiting Jeypore Police on Saturday subjected Bunty Nanda, son of Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda, to a four-hour-long interrogation at the Capital police station here in connection with the murderous assault on the brother, nephew and son of former MlA and senior Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati in a Jeypore hotel hours after the first phase polls got over on April 10.
Bunty was picked up from the Minister’s official residence here with the help of the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police, sources said. Bunty and his Minister father are among the nine members of the Biju Janata Dal named in the FIR filed by Tara Prasad Bahinipati after the incident.It may be noted here that the police have failed to nab any of the identified accused persons in the last 17 days.Earlier this week, Bahinipati along with senior Congress leaders Narasingha Mishra and Kishore Patel had met with the DGP Prakash Mishra to demand the immediate arrest of the culprits who were clearly identified in the CCTV footage of the hotel as well as those who masterminded the attack.
Bahinipati had also threatened to gherao chief minister’s residence if the police failed to apprehend the attackers. It may be noted here that the police have failed to nab any of the identified accused persons in the last 17 days.
