Cops plan major operation against city criminals soon

Commissioner of Police (CP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Saturday conducted a review meeting of each police station and zone in the city and directed them to act tough against criminals, besides ensuring an improved service delivery system.

The close-door meeting with senior police officers, chiefs of zone and police stations of the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack urban police districts lasted for quite a few hours.

The meeting assumed significance in view of the continuous raids on criminals and their subsequent arrests in Cuttack following the arrest of dreaded gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalsamant.

Senior officers said an operation would be launched soon in the capital city against the criminals as all the police station IICs have already prepared lists of criminals and submitted the same to the CP.

Senior officers said the CP has categorically asked them not to show any leniency to criminals, particularly habitual miscreants, and arrest them.   The top cop also insisted on police personnel being more courteous in dealing with citizens, especially the complainants.

This was the first meeting of the CP with IICs, and zone ACPs after his joining in January last week.

DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Satyabrata Bhoi and Sanjeev Arora, respectively, were present at the meeting.
