Civil society members here have blamed the ineffectiveness of the local police for the rising crimes in Athagarh.
“Due to police apathy and inaction, criminals have turned Athagarh as their heavenly abode. Almost all the criminals used to take shelter here. The killing of Dipu and Omm by DS
brothers was occurred in a farm house here which is a challenge for the Athagarh police,” said Athagarh Civil Society president Sailendra Patnaik.
He questioned that when the Commissionerate Police have traced the crime area of the murder at Athagarh, where the fault lies with the local police in getting any sort of information on itIJ
Two days back, locals had caught two dreaded criminals having weapons from the same area and handed them over to the police.
Similarly, a firing had been occurred at Dhaipur village last week. When asked, local police said since they are not equipped with sufficient staff and modern vehicles, they fail to nab the criminals.
