Cops in Balangir to probe ‘Bachelors’ Party’ thrown by ACF’s wife

A five-member team of the Paralakhemundi police on Sunday reached Balangir to intensify the probe into the mysterious death of ACF Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

The team is expected to carry out a detailed investigation into the ‘Bachelors’ Party’ thrown by the ACF’s wife Bidyabharati Panda at the Livestock Inspectors Training Centre (LITC) to which she had allegedly been accompanied by a person referred as ‘Sir’.

Notably, Bidya was a student of the LITC and a photo of her student days went viral on social media recently.

While being queried upon the list of persons to be questioned by them, a police official maintained that they can share information only after the completion of the probe.

Notably, DFO Sangram Keshari Behera, cook Manmath Kambha along with Bidyabharati have been named as the suspects in the alleged murder case of the ACF.

While Gajapati SP gave a clean chit to the DFO in the case on Friday, he later changed his statement by saying the matter is currently under investigation.

However, the lawyer of Saumya's father had called the investigations by the police as ‘tardy’ and questioned how the SP could give a clean chit to the DFO without proper questioning.
