In a development in BJB College girl student Ruchika Mohanty’s death case, police on Monday evicted the agitators, including her mother, who were protesting in front of the college demanding justice for her.
Before vacating the agitators from the place police dismantled the tent which the agitators had erected to shelter them.
The girl’s mother along with some college students and a few NGO members were protesting at the spot for more than a week in demand of justice for Ruchika.
Ruchika’s mother had announced to observe the 10th day death rituals for her daughter in front of the college on the day. But when the agitators reached outside the gate to hold rituals, police forcibly dispersed them from the spot.
Ruchika’s mother warned to resort to suicide if justice is denied for her daughter.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police said, “We are interrogating everyone associated with the case but are yet to identify the three seniors (who allegedly harassed Ruchika leading to her suicide). We have shifted Ruchika’s mother and other agitators to Lower PMG Square as they cannot protest wherever they want. We took action against the agitators after the BJB College Principal wrote to us saying the college’s academic atmosphere was being disturbed.”
