A married police constable was arrested and forwarded to court here on Wednesday allegedly for eloping with another married woman and raping her.
The accused is in jail now and has been suspended from his job. While the married woman is refusing that she was not kidnapped and abducted, the husband of the woman claimed that his wife was abducted and raped.
Sources said, accused Biranchi Majhi(50), a native of Sugurda village under lepripada police station, works as a police constable in Kinjrikela police station. Biranchi is married and father of three children.
While construction work of a building of Kinjrikela police station was going on, Rashmita Banchur, a married woman, resident under Kinjrikela police station, was working as a labourer there. Rashmita is mother of two children but Biranchi after luring Rashmita had allegedly kept illicit relationship with her. Rashmita had gone to Tildega for attending his uncle’s marriage five days ago but Biranchi reaching there, took her away.
Debanand Banchur, husband of the Rashmita, lodged a FIR in Kinjrikela police station against Biranchi for abducting and raping his wife.
Police on Tuesday could come to know that Biranchi and Rashmita were taking shelter in a relative’s house at Gaidegar. Police raided the spot and arrested Biranchi.
