The missing of a young police Sub Inspector (SI) from the Deogarh police station has been a cause of concern for the authorities and the common people. Even if four days have passed, the higher officials are yet to trace him.
Notably, Deogarh is a Maoist prone district. In this context, the missing of the SI has raised doubts about his possible abduction by the ultras.
As per information, SI Pabitra Kumar Maharana of Deogarh police station was last seen in the district headquarters and Barkote on December 11 night. But after that, he went missing. On the same day, he also didn’t attend the crime meeting in the district headquarters. At the same time, his mobile phone remains switched off since that day of his missing. He has not applied for Cl/El to avail leave.
When contacted, Additional SP of Deogarh DP Dash admitted the fact.
“We have sent our staff to Niali Cuttack district and Bhubaneswar to collect information about Maharana. We hope that we can reach a destination,” ASP DP Dash said.
But a police official ruled out his abduction and said that since Maharana might have gone to his native place.
