Published on:

Taking cognisance of police attack on two girls at the Nayapalli police station, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Monday asked the Director General of Police and the Twin City Commissioner of Police to conduct an inquiry into the issue and submit separate reports within a week.

Basing on the petition filed by the two victims, Gayatri Mallik and Itishree Mallik, SHRC Acting Chairperson Justice BK Misra has issued the notices.

Besides, human rights activists Pradipta Nayak and Prabir Kumar Das have also filed separate petitions with newspaper clippings that reported about merciless attack on the two sisters.

The two girls have alleged that Nayapalli IIC Sangram Keshari Patnaik tried to undress them. In his attack Gayatri became unconscious. Though Itishree cried for water to Gayatri, Patnaik said she was pretending and requiring more thrashing. The brutality also made Itishree unconscious.
