Teachers engaged in the remote pockets are skipping duty taking the advantage of slack inspection in the district here. In some schools, the cooks and the local youths are working as proxies.
Take the instance of Vekta Prathamika Vidyalaya. The school is located at a seaside coastal pocket under Rangani panchayat in Rajnagar block. Here as many as three teachers were engaged to provide teaching to 165 students. But ironically, most of the time, the school generally operates with a single teacher. Cook Tapaswini Bhuiyan is taking class there.
Similarly, one Nalini Kanta Das, a local youth, has been engaged to take classes in the school by a teacher. A couple of days back locals found that students of Pravati Primary School were cleaning the verandah after taking MDM in the school as it was directed by a school teacher.
Though there are six teachers for 240 students at Garta Nodal Primary School, but most of the time, the school teachers remain absent without taking prior permission. Recently, the CRC of Talachua while paying a visit to the school found three teachers to be absent in the school without taking leave from the concerned authority.
When contacted, Sub Collector -cum-in charge DPC of SSA Kanhu Charan Dhir stated that the matter had come to his notice and he would direct the BEO of Rajnagar to conduct an inquiry.
