In yet another incident of rising cybercrimes against women, a youth was arrested on Thursday by the Bhubaneswar Cyber police on the charge of blackmailing two minor girls in the capital city.
The accused Kalia Das is a native of Dhenkanal district presently staying in Bhubanewar. He was earlier working as a cook at a reputed temple in Nayapalli in the city.
He allegedly opened fake social media accounts in the names of the two sisters and used to post obscene pictures and vulgar messages. He also used to blackmail them and send vulgar pictures to their family members. The family members lodged a complaint against Kalia with the cyber police station, following which he was arrested.
However, the concerned temple authorities said the accused was working for them nearly nine years back; and if he has committed any crime, he should be stringently punished.
