The two-day national convention on women and child rights, organised by the State Progressive Women’s Forum, concluded here on Sunday.
Political commentator Jaya Jaitly graced the occasion as chief guest. MP Savita Shinde, Dr Suparna Ganguly, Dr Prafulla Sahoo and MlA Sashibhushan Behera were present. Jaitly gave a proposal to showcase and sell handicraft items made by Odisha women at the Delhi Haat. More than 500 people, including SHG members, from all the districts, participated in the seminar. Members of the forum raised the issues of violence against women, and their rights. They also shared their problems on the occasion. Nepal Embassy Srijana Adhikari, Indu Rangaraj, Sujata Patel, Dr Meera Mitra, Dr Bhagaban Prakash were present as guests in the inaugural day. Forum president Mamta Samantray presided over the event.
