Controversial Kujang Block Development Officer (BDO) Ashok Kumar Mohanty, who was charged with a molestation case and on leave for over a month now, has been transferred to Puri district.
Sources said Kujang Tehsildar Basudev Satpathy has been assigned an additional charge as Kujang BDO.
Mohanty, while traveling in a private bus, had allegedly molested a college girl of the locality. The girl’s parents had lodged an FIR against him in the Kujang police station. later, several civil society bodies, women organisations and locals took to the streets demanding immediate transfer of Mohanty.
On the other hand, Mohanty got an advance bail from the Orissa High Court a month ago and since then he was on leave.
Buckling under pressure from different corners, the Panchayati Raj department has shifted Mohanty to Krushnaprasad block in Puri district, sources said.
