Contractor attacked by labourers in Paradip

Published on:

A contractor, Rakesh Patnaik, was here on Saturday allegedly attacked by some labourers who were upset over nonpayment of their wages.

Sources said in the morning, about ten people accosted Patnaik near the Paradip police station and asked him for payment of their outstanding dues.

This led to an altercation during which Patnaik was roughed up.

Patnaik alleged that East Coast labour Union president Prakash Tripathy and vice-president Susanta Samal had sent the miscreants to assault him.

But Tripathy and Samal told to mediapersons that they were not involved in this matter; rather Patnaik was attacked by his own labourers.

Patnaik has lodged an FIR in this regard at the Paradip police station.
