The contract labourers of Paradip IOCl refinery project are exploited by their contractors. Neither the IOCl nor the labour Department is taking any legal action against them.
Sources said the labourers are working without getting their salary since November 2, 2015. When the laboures demand the payment, contractors threaten them to lay them off.
Akshay Kumar Nayak from Siju Village under Abhaychandpur Police Station near the refinery project faced the ire of the contractor when he tried to draw the attention the IOCl authorities about various problems being faced by the labourer class. He was simply thrown out of job by his contractor and his payment of last 12 months was withheld.
lingaraj lenka and Brothers is the contract firm providing labourers to the IOCl.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed in the Orissa High Court regarding the matter.
