Contract teachers' demo at Assembly on Aug 24

The Odisha Government High School Contract Teachers’ Association (OGHCTA) has said it would stage a massive demonstration in front of the State Assembly here on August 24 to press for fulfilment of their various demands.

“Contract teachers have been selected on a merit basis. Despite fulfilling their legitimate demands, the State Government is engaging them in various works as bonded labourers,” alleged members of the association at meeting held here.

Their various demands include regularisation of jobs, provision of TGT-scale salaries for PETs, TIs and TAMs, exclusion of contract teachers appointed in October 3013 form the OSSTET and implementation of GA letters No-32010 and 1147 at the earliest. If these demands are not met soon, the association would stage a massive demonstration in front of the Assembly on August 24, said OGHCTA president Pradeepta Kumar Pradhan.
