Contract, outsourcing staffers' stir from June 25

The Odisha State Government contractual and outsourcing employees under the banner of the Odisha Karmachari Mahamacha would hold a massive rally on June 25 and 26 here in protest against the apathetic attitude of the State Government over various demands, said association convenor Pravat Mohanty at a Press meet held here.

The employees of various departments for many days have been demanding their regularisation, parity in pay etc, but remain neglected.

They alleged that the State Government has defied the Supreme Court’s direction of ‘equal pay for equal work’ and exploited the workers a lot. They also said that they are working at a less salary than even the daily wagers.

The members also alleged that on March 14, the Finance Secretary had assured to hold a discussion of the employees’ demands at a high power committee meeting but yet there is no development.

Fed up with the dilly-dallying attitude of the State Government, the association has decided to wear black badges from June 1 to 8. It has also decided to hold ‘Naveen Nivas Chal’ programme on June 27 and would meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and press for fulfilment of their demands.

Among others, Madhu Mallick, Mihir Jena, Prasant Patnaik, Outsourcing Karmachari Sangha president Sanjay Kumar Patnaik, Bijay Kumar Malla, Khitish Panda, Biswamohan Samal and Srinivas Sethi were present.
