A Circuit Bench of the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission would be set up at Brahmapur in the first week of July this year, assured Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Sanjay Dasburma during his visit here on Sunday. Talking to reporters, Dasburma said a decision of the State Government to have Circuit Benches of the commission at Brahmapur and Sambalpur has reportedly been intimated by the Department of Consumer Welfare to the Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDC) in Brahmapur and Sambalpur.

The Minister said all the necessary works including employment of man power for the circuit bench has been completed. The Brahmapur Bench would be inaugurated by July first week, he added. Notably, the demand of establishment of a Circuit Bench of the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission in Brahmapur is a longstanding one of local lawyers and an organisation involved in consumer activism named VEDIC.
