A Circuit Bench of the Orissa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission will be established in Brahmapur soon.
This will help the aggrieved consumers to file petition before the Circuit Bench rather than go all the way to Cuttack for the purpose to appeal before the State Commission.
The Food Supply and Consumer welfare Department has confirmed about a gazette notification on the establishment of the Circuit Bench in Brahmapur to the District Consumer lawyers Association.
Notably, a notification from the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department was published on January 20, 2014 where in it was said to start the Bench in the RDC (southern) camp court. However, since the gazette notification had not been made, the Bench had not been set up in the last two and a half years.
Recently, the District Consumer lawyers Association had proposed the State Commission for a meeting over the matter, but the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Secretary informed the association that decks had been cleared for the establishment of the Circuit Bench in Brahmapur and hence, there was no need of a meeting. He told that the gazettee notification would be made in 2-3 days.
