Construction workers under the banner of the Odisha Nirman Shramika Sangha (CITU) staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Assistant labour Commissioner here pressing for a series of demands, including Rs 1.5 lakh to all construction workers for housing.
later, a team of members of the body discussed with the Assistant labour Commissioner on various problems faced by construction workers. They later submitted a memorandum to him in this regard and sought immediate solution to their issues.
The other demands include addressing the irregularity issue in registration of construction workers, authority to central trade unions for workers’ identification and appointment of adequate staffs in labour offices, etc. Among others, Sangh district president Aaswini Dash, secretary Yudhistir Behera and treasurer Madhav Kothia were present.
