The body of a man was found by the Commissionerate police on Friday from a rest house near the new terminal of the Biju Patnaik International Airport here.

The deceased, identified as Nilachal Mishra from Aska, was working as a driver at the Banamali Rout Constructions, which has been awarded the contract for civil work in the airport. After getting information from a supervisor of the construction company, the Airfield police along with a scientific team rushed to the spot and started investigation into the incident.

Police sources said Mishra was staying with one Mangal Dom from West Bengal in the rest house, but the latter has been missing since the incident, which might have occurred on the night of December 31. The deceased’s body bore several injury marks in the abdomen while his left leg was fractured. Two iron rods and a wooden plank were seized from the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that Mishra might have been murdered, police said. Airfield police station IIC RR Sahu said they have informed the West Bengal police about the murder. “We have urged them to trace the whereabouts of the suspect, a security guard at the Jindal Steel and Power limited,” he said.
