The city police on Monday arrested an APR constable and his wife on charges of cheating and common intention for criminal act. Constable Amiya Kumar Mohapatra of Cuttack rural police and his wife Priyadarshini while floating a fake real estate company had collected over Rs 40 lakh from several innocent persons, said Badambadi police station Inspector Biranchi Narayan Pati. Pati said the couple did not provide any land to the prospective buyers and misbehaved when accosted by them. “At least two cases were registered against the couple in our police station and were arrested under section 420 and 34 of the IPC,” Pati said.
