Constable fights case for 30 yrs to get job

A retrenched constable of Rajgangpur had to fight for 30 years from the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), the State High Court to the Supreme Court to get justice.

Source said Tukubabu Das of Rajgangpur was engaged as a constable on August 25, 1983. But on April 30, 1984, the department authority removed him from job assigning the reason that his service is no more required.Challenging the decision, Das filed a case in the SAT and on June 4 the same year, the SAT directed the then SP, Sundargarh, to engage him in the job soon.

As the court order was not obeyed, Das filed a contempt case in the SAT again, which was dismissed. So challenging it, Das filed a case in the Odisha High Court. The court had directed the then Sundergarh SP to submit a reply in personal appearance what the later had obliged on November 5, 2012. Taking up the case, the court directed to give job to Das within a month.

But surprisingly instead of accepting the court’s decision, the State Government challenged it in the Supreme Court through a leave Appeal which was dismissed by the court on June 30 last. Now it remains to be seen how quickly the State Government is acting upon the court’s order and getting Das back in job.
