Consortium and cluster approaches are key to solve the problems of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to a large extent, opined Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati while addressing a workshop on ‘Make in India- Role of MSMEs’ organised here on Monday. Pati said that consortiums and clusters will make MSMEs globally competitive. Through consortiums they can exploit wider marketing opportunities, augment skilled manpower and hire professional expertise for management and technical upgradation of their enterprises, he said, adding that departments of Industry and MSMEs are on job to make the single window system a real ‘one stop service center’ for MSMEs.

The Government is also simplifying exiting norms and procedures to lessen the regulatory burdens on the MSMEs, the Chief Secretary said further, giving a call to industrial associations and commercial chambers to join the efforts in identification and development of product specific clusters. The Chief Secretary also asked the banks to adopt Joint liability Group (JlG) methods and Credit Guarantee Scheme of the Government for financing the MSMEs.

Joining the workshop, Union Secretary, Ministry of MEMEs Madhavlal emphasized on synergy between State and Central Government initiatives for furthering the interests of the MSMEs. He said that the steps taken by the Odisha Government for bringing about innovations and establishment of incubation centers have started yielding results which can be taken forward through collective approaches.

State MSMEs Secretary Panchanana Das sought help of the Union Secretary in mobilizing banks for more liberal credit delivery to MSME sector in Odisha. The workshop was organized under the joint aegis of World Trade Center, State and Central MSME departments and the State Bank of India.
